1) Spouses' gifts are together, i.e., Amy and Tim's are the same theme; Ben and Ashley's are the same theme.
2) There are at least two presents per theme.

we've gone back to the wrapping theme? no words?
we have the obvious decoration theme: ribbons, double ribbon/bow, bow, superfloof thingy, bare.
paper themes: trees, hats, stars, words, animals.
just throwing things out. haven't researched further.
i'm on my own at work today. i did a bit of recording. entered my grades, but nothing editting wise. not a thing. life is good. oh! and i'm listening to christmas music. and it snowed last weekend, so i'm officially in the christmas spirit. i sort of wish i were coming home though. that's the only thing that could make it perfect.
i can't help but think the bows, and perhaps the location of the bows, is important. here's my thought:
two bows are conspicuously in the center,
two bows are placed in the corner of the gifts (one of these is the "superfloof", which makes me laugh every time i see the word) and
two packages have double-bow/ribboning. by this i mean one has a bow and a ribbon, and the one has the suspicious double-ribboned corner. that double-ribboned corner seems significant.
two have just single ribboning.
that leaves three bare presents.
what does it mean? and why is there an odd number?
the ribboning was my first thought as well. the location of the ribbon. that's a good call, amy. the superfloof confounded me, but that it's in the corner...that makes sense. (however, i don't know if that sentence did.)
i feel the need to question the ribbon because it's so obvious. but maybe mom's trying to trick us with the simple. hmmm...
ben, how are you and ashley coming there at home? when the theme is in the wrapping, sorting and making piles of the different combinations are crucial to the deciphering. does anyone know what anyone else is getting? sometimes that helps.
is there another, more subtle theme that we could be missing? how many pieces of tape did she use per package? one never knows.

yes. i think we need more information from the home front. it's always good to test mom by throwing out the options. does she exude confidence still? is still appalled by our brilliance?
